Since you're asking about collections, though, it's difficult to match the breadth of Ra + Silk. You'll end up paying way, way more than $400 that way of course, and Silk or Ra probably still have the best or nearly the best examples of some instruments. So there's potential to build your library piece by piece if you only want a few things for now. Crucial to the decision to take the MOTU Ethno V2 over the competition was the larger selection of Irish (Celtic) instruments, my main area of application. I got the Efimov Duduk a while back on a sale, and it's clearly superior to the versions in Ra and Silk for my taste (though it's nice to have the variety). I'd only spend $400 on them, though, if 1.) You needed lots and lots of world instruments at once and were willing to pay, 2.) You don't want any other EastWest libraries (otherwise the CCC is a much better deal: $800 for 7 instruments including the non-percussion parts of the Hollywood series). Am I crazy? A cursory read through the documentation didn't mention this. That is, 0 uses the loudest samples and 127 uses the quietest. One strange thing about Ra that maybe someone can clear up for me: the mod wheel seems to be opposite of every other library. These instruments tend to include pretty complete keyswitch versions (which is good, because you can't create your own within Play). I really like Silk and Ra, and while Play isn't my favorite plugin in the world (I use a Mac), Ra and Silk are both rather light on resources relative to the EW Hollywood series.
